Dear Friends and Art Enthusiasts,
July has been a fun and rewarding month in the studio. I recently finished a new painting inspired by an afternoon kayaking through one of our local canals. The calm water, quiet reflections, and peaceful feeling of being surrounded by nature made it a scene I knew I wanted to capture on canvas. I'm excited to share the finished painting with you above.
A couple of weeks ago, I also had the opportunity to participate in the Oshkosh Plein Air Festival. I always enjoy spending several days painting outdoors, slowing down to truly observe the light and discovering beauty in places I might otherwise pass by. Further down in the newsletter, I've included the four paintings I completed during the event.
I'm also grateful to share that my painting "Tree at Dusk" was selected as a finalist in the 2026 Richeson75 Landscape, Seascape & Architecture competition. It's an honor to have my work included alongside so many talented artists. I've included a link to the online exhibition later in the newsletter if you'd like to take a look.
With summer in full swing, I've also gathered a few paintings that capture some of my favorite moments of the season, from peaceful lakes to colorful florals.
In this month's Collector's Tip, I share why I encourage collectors to choose paintings based not only on how they look, but on how they make you feel.
As always, thank you for following along and for supporting my work.
Warmly,
Karen
